Features

Nest Temperature Sensor Included

The right temp, right where you want it. Put the included Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen) in the room that matters most. The Nest Learning Thermostat helps make sure it’s the exact temperature you want it to be.

Adaptive Eco

Adaptive Eco helps find an energy-saving temperature based on your home and the weather.¹ So you save when you’re away, and come back to a comfy home.

Natural Heating and Cooling

Teaming up with Mother Nature. Your thermostat learns how the temperature outside affects the temperature inside, and pauses your system to help you save.¹

Smart Schedule

The schedule that programs itself. Smart Schedule learns the temps you like, and when you like them. It suggests small tweaks to help you save, and you can accept them in the Google Home app.¹

Control With Google Home app

One great app for your whole home. Control your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) and other compatible smart home devices with the Google Home app.⁵

System Health Monitor

System Health Monitor looks out for your heating and cooling system, helps catch many issues early and can send an alert if something needs attention.⁶

Reminders and Alerts

Your HVAC heads-up. When it’s time to change your air filter, you’ll get an alert based on actual use.⁶ And you’ll get seasonal maintenance reminders based on time of year.

Easy to Install (Yourself or With a pro)

It’s easy to install. The Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) is designed for you to install yourself, usually in 40 minutes or less. Just follow the step-by-step instructions in the Google Home app.³ Or contact a Nest Pro.

Power Sharing

No worries about wiring. The Power Sharing feature on the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) gets enough power from your existing thermostat wiring. So it doesn’t require a C-wire for installation in most homes.³

Smart Ventilation

Smart is in the air. To save energy, smart ventilation brings in outdoor air when air quality is healthy and it’s most efficient, like when temps are mildest.¹,⁷

Energy Shift

Clean energy made simple. Energy Shift from Nest Renew can automatically shift your energy use to cleaner or cheaper times.⁸

Matter Endpoint

At home in other smart home apps. You can use any Matter-enabled smart home app to control the Nest Learning Thermostat.⁹

Voice Control

Do more with your voice. Don’t want to get up from the couch? Just change the temp with your voice.²

Dynamic Farsight

Great info from far away. And up close. Dynamic Farsight shows you info you can see from across the room.¹ Choose the design – a clock, the temp, weather, and more. Automatically adjusts brightness to your environment, or set your screen brightness manually.

Humidity Helper

Humidity? No sweat. Humidity Helper can help to keep humidity at the right level so you stay comfortable.¹ And it reduces the risks of condensation and mold. ¹,¹⁰

³ Nest thermostats are designed to work in most homes without a common (C) wire. Check compatibility at g.co/nest/works and see g.co/nest/cwire for details.

⁴ Estimated energy savings are based on real-world studies and national performance data involving replacement of conventional thermostats with Nest thermostats in the US. Individual savings depend upon many factors, including climate and seasonal changes, home size, occupancy and appliances, as well usage of energy-savings features such as Auto-Away and Seasonal Savings. Actual savings may vary. Learn more at g.co/nest/realsavings.

Installation

Before You Buy: Check if Your Equipment is Compatible

Before you purchase your Nest thermostat, make sure that your heating and cooling system(s) are compatible using the compatibility checker.

The Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) works with most 24V systems, including gas, electric, oil, forced air, heat pump, and radiant.

What's a C-Wire?

A C-wire (common wire) is a low voltage power wire that many modern thermostats require for their features to work. Many older homes don’t have a C-wire because mercury and battery-powered thermostats didn’t require one.

The Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) is designed to work whether or not your home has a common (“C”) wire. In limited cases (<1%), a C wire or Nest Power Connector may be necessary to ensure that your HVAC system can provide sufficient power to the thermostat in all conditions. See g.co/nest/cwire for details.

Use the compatibility checker to see if you may need a Nest Power Connector or C wire.

This thermostat is not compatible with electric baseboard heating systems.
